The Transport Prosecutor of the Volga Transport district Timur Kebekov in the delegation of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation took part in a working meeting with the leadership of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus on issues of legal assistance on criminal cases about the crimes connected with use of information technology.
The relevance of the topic of the meeting was confirmed also by the events of recent days, when the computer virus attacked more than 200 thousands of computers in more than 150 countries.
A delegation from the Russian side was headed by the Director of the legal aid office of the Main Department of international legal cooperation of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Kamynin.
Also prosecutors from all regions of the Republic of Belarus and city of Minsk, representatives of the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus took part in the meeting, including via videoconference.
Welcoming remarks the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus A. V. Koniuk addressed to the audience, he also noted that the wide introduction of information technologies in public life poses new challenges to the subjects of national security, because information technologies are used not only in the name of progress, but also by international terrorist organizations and criminal groups. Crimes against information security have a certain complexity in the investigation and in the implementation of prosecutorial supervision, as investigators and prosecutors must have the necessary knowledge and skills. In this regard, the increasing coordinating role of prosecutors to ensure effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies for the prevention, detection and suppression of crimes against information security, including in the field of international cooperation.
The Transport Prosecutor of the Volga Transport district Timur Kebekov emphasized the importance and topicality of this subject for transport of the Volga Transport district.
Timur Kebekov also reported about the established practice of cooperation of the transport Prosecutor's office with law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Belarus.
In addition, the Transport Prosecutor of the Volga Transport district noted the importance of using in the framework of cooperation between our countries in the fight against cybercrime such form as the joint investigative team. The advantage of such groups is to minimize formalities in the conduct of investigative actions on the territory of a foreign state, and as a result, including the reduction of terms of investigation and criminal proceedings in General.
The workshop participants discussed the issues of legal assistance on criminal cases about the crimes connected with use of information and communication technologies, features and capabilities of investigation of crimes in the sphere of information security and information technology.
The working meeting will contribute to further development of cooperation between supervisory agencies of the two countries, strengthen cooperation in the provision of legal assistance on criminal cases about the crimes connected with use of information technology.
